a. Understanding Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) based on deep learning is still in its early stages. When purchasing products equipped with Generative AI, it is essential to bear in mind that its usefulness is limited without being swayed by companies' advertising. Generative AI can be difficult to control and may exhibit unpredictable behavior, yet companies are rushing to introduce products with Generative AI into the market. Such peculiar behavior arises due to the opaque nature of the fundamental technology of deep learning. This is one of the biggest mysteries in Generative AI.
b. The biggest mystery lies in how large-scale language models like Gemini and OpenAI's GPT-4 learn things they have not been taught. By training a language model with English mathematical problems and then teaching it French, the model can solve French mathematical problems. This ability contradicts classical statistics, which provides the most excellent explanation for the behavior of predictive models.
c. It is easy to mistake recognition arising from ignorance for intelligence. The technology of deep learning, particularly under the name Generative AI, is prone to misunderstanding. The reason language models appear intelligent is that they predict the next word in a sentence and generate prose resembling human writing. Deep learning technology is not true intelligence, and referring to it as Generative AI subtly alters expectations. Researchers at Google DeepMind are interested not only in game generation but also in open-ended learning methods that involve throwing bots controlled by Generative AI into virtual environments to solve various tasks. This method has the potential to contribute to the development of the field of robotics.
h. Generative AI has the potential to distort copyright law. Copyright law exists to foster creative culture, and it is expected that the concept of "fair use" will be tested through legal battles between artists and AI companies.
